Revelation
7:13-17
Revelation
7:13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these,
clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?"
Revelation
7:14 I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me,
"These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed
their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Revelation
7:15 "Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him
day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them
with his presence.
Revelation
7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall
not strike them, nor any scorching heat.
Revelation
7:17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every
tear from their eyes."
Revelation
7:13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are
these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?"
One of the 24 elders asking a question to apostle John. The thing is
the elders already knew who they were but they wanted to make sure that
everyone, including us, knew.
Revelation
7:14 I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to
me, "These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have
washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
What is the paradox of
the statement "and have washed their robes, and made them white in the
blood of the Lamb"? How do you wash something in blood and have it come
out to be white? If anyone washes their cloth it’ll become stain. But here the
elder told that “they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood
of the Lamb”.
Here we are not talking
about the literal washing of cloth, but here we can see the spiritual washing.
What is the secret in the blood ?
(1) Blood symbolizes life, i.e., "For
the life of all flesh is the blood thereof" (Leviticus
17:14),
(2) Shed blood is necessary for forgiveness, i.e., "And almost all things are by the Law purged with
blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission [forgiveness]" (Hebrews 9:22),
(3) Christ's blood makes possible our justification,
i.e., "Much more then, being now justified by
His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him" (Romans 5:9),
and
(4) The blood of His Cross is not a morbid thought, but
our way to peace with God, i.e., "And,
having made peace through the blood of His Cross, by Him to reconcile all
things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in Earth, or things
in Heaven" (Colossians 1:20).
Revelation
7:15 "Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him
day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them
with his presence.
These
martyred, but now glorified Saints now stand before the
"throne of God", serving the LORD "day
and night in His Temple" (7:15). Psalm 23:6-"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever”.
Revelation
7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun
shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.
Revelation
7:17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their
shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe
away every tear from their eyes."
worldly
hunger and thirst will separate from God
In the world many of the working we
hard. Why all are working hard to satisfy his hunger and fulfill their family
hungriness. This curse we received from that God. We can see it Genesis 3:18
& 23.
God says
Isaiah 55:1
"Come, everyone who thirsts, come
to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and
milk without money and without price.
Isaiah 55:2
Why do you spend your money for that
which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen
diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.
So the
worldly hunger and thirst are separate from us.
Spiritual hunger and thirst will help
go closer to God
Matthew 5:6
- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be
filled.
When one is hungry or thirsty, they desire food or drink not
just because they want it, but because they also need it. Jesus wants us to see
righteousness the same way; to crave it not just because it's desirable, but
also because it is needful. 1 Peter 2:2 - as newborn babes, desire the pure
milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,[Quotes from NKJV]It means to have
a real strong desire to understand what God says. Our bodies will do anything
to get food and drink. If a person is really hungry he will steal or even kill
to get food. These are the bad ways but God has told us how to live and act in
the Bible and those who belong to God will have a strong desire to know what
God says and it will be a daily search to know how God wants us to live.
We know
that Jesus himself is a bread and water.
John 4:14 but whoever
drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The
water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to
eternal life."
John 6:35 - Jesus said, I am the bread of
life; he that cometh to Me shall never hunger, and he that believeth in Me
shall never thirst.
John 7:37, 38 - Jesus cried, saying, If
anyone thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink; whosoever believeth in Me, as
the Scripture hath said, Out of his belly shall flow streams of living water.
Whoever
standing in front of throne they had thrust for Christ, they had hunger to know
about Christ, because of that only all Jesus Christ prophcis are full filled in
their life.
… the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.
Psalm 121:6 The sun shall not strike you by
day, nor the moon by night.
As he kept Israel in the wilderness by a pillar of cloud
by day, which screened them from the heat of the sun, and of fire by
night,
Not
only can we expect to be in God's presence forever, but He desires to dwell
with us! John 14:2-3-"2: In My Father's house are many mansions [dwellings or abodes]: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also".
