Revelation 1:1
Revelation 1:1 The revelation of Jesus
Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon
take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John.
Revelation – The word ‘Revelation’ means “which God
now shows”. No person could know these things unless God showed them. Now let
us see word by word meaning.
“Jesus Christ” -
·
All of us know that
Jesus Christ, son of Joseph the Carpenter was very kind, merciful, patient,
died and resurrected from death for us. But this book starts with “The Revelation
of Jesus Christ”.
·
His Glory - When
Jesus was in the world nobody believed him as the son of God except St. Peter. Only after Jesus was resurrected from death,
all people started believing Jesus as the son of God. So this book shows us Jesus
Christ as a glorified son of God.
·
His Anger - when Jesus was in this world he was
very kind, merciful and patient but this book shows him
as a Judge.
·
Controller – This book
shows him as a controller of the World. He has the full control of the earth.
Rev.
11:17 says,
"We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for you
have taken your great power and begun to reign.
Servant
–
·
In Greek it is written
as “Doulas”.
·
There is a ship called
Doulas. It carried Christian books and was moving around the world.
·
Doulas means a bondservant or slave. There is a vast difference between servant
and bondservant. The servant is eligible for the salary or wages, but the
bondservant doesn’t. The owner of that bondservant has purchased him once for
all.
·
In one way all of us
are bond servants for Jesus Christ. He has purchased us by shedding his precious
blood on the cross for us.
·
So our responsibility
is to obey the Word of God i.e. Jesus Christ.
“Show His servant “–
·
Here we notice the
word “show”. So, God showed to John everything what is going to happen in the future. The
specialty of the word ‘show’is, if we tell some thing orally or written we can add or miss something. But
if you show the picture/vision, means people can understand it easily and will
remain in their minds for ever.
“Soon”
·
All of us know God’s 1 day is equal to 1000 years, 2 Peter 3:8 tells But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,
that one day is with the Lord as a
thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
·
2 Peter 1:20, 21 Knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is
of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the
will of man: but holy men of God sp0ke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
·
According to Daniel’s calculation the last 7
days that means 1 week is left. Once it
starts all prophecies written, will happen within 7 years.
