Revelation 13:7-10

Revelation 13:7-10

Rev. 13:7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.
8      All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9      If anyone has an ear, let him hear.
10     He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

“It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them”
The dragon wants persecute the true believer. Because he was very angry once he cast down into the earth. This we can see in

Rev. 12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
But from the above word “it was granted” what we can understands is the dragon gave the power (Rev 13:2, 4) to the beast that means the anti-christ to make the war against the saints.

“the saints”
Who is the saints here ?
Who is the saints revlation 14:12 tells us who keep the commandment of law

Rev. 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

“to overcome them”
Here we can take two type of meaning

  First one – Deceiving believers

All people so called Christians are not true Christians. May they live Christian life, may they worshiped the our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. But if any problems comes they can’t with stand for the Christ. Because they are namely Christians. Very good example Lord Jesus told the sower parable.
Mark 4:7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.

Meaning

Mark 4:18   Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word,
Mark 4:19   and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Second one – Persecution believers
David tells
Ps. 79:2   The dead bodies of Your servants They have given as food for the birds of the heavens, The flesh of Your saints to the beasts of the earth.
Ps. 79:2   Their blood they have shed like water all around Jerusalem, And there was no one to bury them.

Even St. Paul tell in 2 timothy

2 Tim. 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

“And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.”
We know that the last kingdom is Roman Kingdom. From the above word we can understand that the Roman kingdom was established throughout the world. That means the anti-christ kingdom covered the every tribe, tongue and nation. So all true believers all over the world will be persecuted.
Daniel 7:22 until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.
Daniel 7:23 "Thus he said: ' The fourth beast shall be A fourth kingdom on earth, Which shall be different from all other kingdoms, And shall devour the whole earth, Trample it and break it in pieces.

Rev. 13:8     All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
From this words we can understand that who will worship or follow tthe beast , whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Rev 13:9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear.
If anyone has an ear….This is a call for understanding to those who are about to die. The ear is a “Spiritual ear” in much the same way the letters to the churches addressed those who had ears this is addressed to the surviving believers who are about to be killed. An interesting point can be made here, the church is not addressed, but those who have an ear. Since the church is not specifically mentioned, more then likely the church was raptured prior to the tribulation.

Rev 13: 10He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills
with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
He who leads….God is allowing this to happen for a purpose. In the 5th Seal, we see
those who are killed in the first half of the tribulation. Here saints from the second half are
prepared for what is to come. Death is not to be feared because the very next phase for the
martyr is Heaven in God’s presence (Revelation 6:9-11, 7:9-11, 15:2) There is a place in
Heaven waiting for their arrival.
Here is patience…. The ability to suffer for their testimony will bring many to a saving
knowledge in the last days. Much in the same way the early church spread under
persecution, this last group of Gentile and Jewish faithful will grow through persecution.
God is allowing this persecution, because its only temporary and exposes those who
dwell on the earth for who they truly are. Daniel, also wrote about this future period of
persecution for the believer.
