Revelation
2:13
Revelation 2:13 "'I know
where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you
did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was
killed among you, where Satan dwells.
'I know where you
dwell
The sense of the passage is, that it does much to enable us to
judge of character to know where people live. In Mathew 6:21 Lord said “For
where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” So we can easily guess
the people character based on their activities. So here also the Lord told to
the Pergamum church people “I know where
you dwell”
Even where
Satan's throne is
A place of special wickedness, as if Satan dwelt there. Satan is,
as it were, enthroned there. The influence of Satan in producing persecution is
what is particularly alluded to, as is apparent from the reference which is
immediately made to the case of Antipas, the "faithful martyr."
“Where Satan’s throne is,” not simply seat.
This statement stems from the fact of the extreme idolatry and demonic nature
of the religious activity connected with the worship of the serpent god of
Esculapius, the worship of the Emperor of Rome, and the persecution these
Christians faced as a result.
Revelation
13:2 and 16:10
Same Satan’s
thrown going to come in feature
Revelation
13:12 It exercises all the authority of
the first beast in its presence,[1] and makes the earth and its
inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed.
The God will
destroy the Satan’s thrown completely
Revelation 16:10
The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom
was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish
Yet you hold fast
my name,
Even though the people living in
midst of the bad circumstance, the became the Christ believer very quickly.
They were ready to face any persecution, trails and tribulation for the gospel
sake.
You did not deny
my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness who was killed among
you where Satan dwells
Because of that the bishop of
Pergamum church Antipas was a first person sacrificed himself to God. The ruler
of the Pergamum burned him in the brazed bull. After saw this also the
Christian got more faith on Christ and followed antipas there were many people
died as a martyrs.
