Revelation 3:15,16
Revelation 3:15 "'I know
your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or
hot!
Revelation 3:16 So, because you
are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
I.
'I know your works…
Jesus mentioning
here that, He knows what happening into this church.
II.
…you are neither cold nor hot.
The word
"cold" here would seem to denote the state. It is thought that the
Laodiceans were being criticized for their neutrality or lack of enthusiasm in
faith. We can call this state lukewarm.
Actually there
was reason to call lukewarm, why Jesus was used this word was, However, some
scholars have suggested that this metaphor has been drawn from the water supply
of the city, which was lukewarm, in contrast to the hot springs at nearby
Hierapolis and the pure water of Colossae. The archaeology shows Laodicea had
an canal that probably carried water
from hot mineral springs some five miles south, which would have become tepid
before entering the city. Geographer Strabo states that the water was hard,
though drinkable. The imagery of the Laodicean aqueduct suggests not that
"hot" is good and "cold" is bad, but that both hot and cold
water are useful, whereas lukewarm water is useless.
Spiritually
speaking, it seems like those who are like "hot coals" burning with
passion for Jesus Christ bring change to those around them. Consequently who
like cold they are not bother about spiritual life. But who like lukewarm they
are belongs to the hot people as well also they are belongs to the cold people.
These people very dangerous in their activities. If the see the spiritual
people they will act according to them and if the worldy people they will act
according to them.
Would that you
were either cold or hot!
Our Lord Jesus expects the
people either cold or hot
Revelation
3:16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot
nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
So, because you
are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold
That’s why Jesus
told here you were either cold or hot. Don’t like lukewarm. Christ told us that
"salt is good" but if the salt loses it's savor, it is good for
nothing!
I will spit you
out of my mouth.
If those acting like
spiritual, Jesus warn them don’t be like that. If you are like that I will hate
those kind of people and I will throughout from my kingdom.
